Counselling is a therapy that uses talking to explore and learn more about who we are.
For many of us there are times in our lives when we struggle with difficulties. These can vary from significant life events, such as a bereavement or the end of a relationship, to less clearly defined problems such as feeling low and anxious.
Sometimes we can find ourselves behaving in ways we don’t quite understand, and get frustrated by not being able to make the changes we know would benefit our lives. Counselling can be enormously helpful at these times, providing us with the space and non-judgemental support that can allow us to find a way forward.
It can give us the opportunity to gain a better understanding of the way we think, feel and behave. This may involve looking at the past or taking a closer look at the present. Everyone’s needs are different, and a good counsellor will work with you to help clarify your difficulties, and work towards a resolution that’s right for you.
